An upcoming fundraising initiative organised by Enniskillen Royal Boat Club Parents’ Support Group is set to scale new heights.

A Ladies’ Three Fermanagh Peaks Challenge will be taken up on Sunday, July 9, in a bid to raise money towards a Wintech International rowing boat for the J13 squad.

It costs £13,900 and the walkers will go the extra mile to raise as much as they can towards it. The challenge will get underway at Cuilcagh at 7am and will take approximately four hours to complete the first part.

The women will be transported to Topped Mountain for the next leg, which will start around 12 noon. A 1.30pm start is then scheduled for the third leg which will meet at Lough Navar Forest and proceed to Magho viewpoint.

About 20 ladies will take part in the sponsored event, and the organisers are hoping the female rowers will join them for the Lough Navar walk.

Gaye Conway, secretary of the Parents’ Support Group, said they are looking forward to the Three Peaks Challenge and would love to raise as much as possible towards the rowing boat.

She points out that it comes two years after the men from the Parents’ Support Group did a fundraising cycle from Malin Head to Mizen Head - an event which also took place in the run up to the Irish Championships.

She said last week if people want to come on the Three Peaks Challenge on July 9, they can contact her on 07860888934. For anyone wishing to give a donation, the justgiving page is www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/jennifer-conway.

In a very recent venture, Gaye mentions that a lot of parents (ladies) have been out rowing for the first time. The activity started as a four week taster but they hope it will continue until the end of the summer. They also still have Erne Head prints available.

An active body, Enniskillen Royal Boat Club/Portora Boat Club Parents’ Support Group’s members are always keen to arrange fundraising efforts on behalf of the club.

Gaye has paid tribute to the many successes achieved by its rowers, most recently at the National Schools.
