Confusion reigns on the new Wickham Place/Dublin Road junction.
The £700,000 scheme aims to reduce traffic delays and congestion through Enniskillen.
But according to one local driving instructor, the new layout is an accident waiting to happen.
“The new lane markings at Belmore Court are all wrong,” he told the Impartial Reporter, “People don’t know what lane they are supposed to be in.”
There are now two lanes turning right into Enniskillen town centre not one as it used to be but some drivers seem to be unaware of this.
A Department for Infrastructure (DfI) spokesman told the Impartial Reporter: “The £700,000 road widening and improvement scheme at Dublin Road and Wickham Link, Enniskillen is now substantially completed. This road improvement scheme introduces an additional traffic lane out of town on Dublin Road and an additional lane into town on Wickham Link.
“Road markings will soon be completed and warning signage confirming a new road layout ahead will be provided on all approaches. Motorists are advised to approach this new layout with due care and attention until they familiarize themselves with the new road layout.
“The Department will continue to monitor driver behaviour at the site over the next few weeks to consider if any additional road markings or signage are required.”
