FOUR portable toilets were destroyed by fire at Cuilcagh Mountain Park over the weekend, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has confirmed.
“Police are currently investigating the matter,” said a Fermanagh and Omagh District Council spokesman.
The private car park at Legnabrocky in Florencecourt where the toilets were situated was recently reopened by the landowner as thousands of people enjoy one of the flagship sites in the Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark.
People using the car park at the 2,500 hectare site managed by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council are being charged £5 by the landowner and refreshments are also being offered.
Meanwhile, the huge volume of visitors to Cuilcagh has caused severe damage and large scale erosion to the natural habitat with experts warning that it is only going to get worse.
