FOUR cows have died and two farmers have been taken to hospital after they were overcome by fumes from a slurry tank on a farm in Fintona, County Tyrone.
The two men were rescued by a neighbour prior to the arrival of firefighters and treated at the scene on the Tattyreagh Road by paramedics and taken to the South West Acute Hospital on Saturday.
The cows were not in the slurry tank when they died.
A spokeswoman for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters carried out gas readings in the area which were confirmed zero at that point and advised local people to avoid the area as a precautionary.”
