A 54-YEAR-OLD man accused of causing the death of a motorcyclist by careless driving around three years ago will not face a third trial.

Joseph Keenan, of Lawnakilla Park, Enniskillen, had denied causing the death of Brian Bernard Peter Lynch by driving without due care and attention on the A4 Belfast Road between Lisbellaw and Tamlaght, on November 15, 2014.

Mr. Keenan had been on trial at Dungannon Crown Court for a second time, but the jury had been unable to reach a verdict.

His first trial earlier this year had also ended with a hung jury.

Last week, His Honour Judge Stephen Fowler QC had remanded Mr. Keenan on continuing bail while the prosecution sought instructions on whether or not there would be a third trial.

When Mr. Keenan appeared back in court on Tuesday, the prosecutor advised that a decision had been taken to proceed no further.

Judge Fowler lifted the defendant's bail conditions and told him he was free to go.
