The family of the late Niall McManus, who died last Thursday, December 21, have taken “great comfort” from the many people who attended his wake and funeral.

The 50-year-old father of two was found dead at his home at Riverside in Enniskillen.

Son of Maire and the late Ignatius McManus, Niall is survived by his sisters Grainne and Roisin, brother-in-law Shane and children Fionntan (18) and Caoimhe (nine).

His funeral mass took place at St. Michael’s Church on Sunday, with burial afterwards at Breandrum Cemetery.

A family member stated: “The family took great comfort in the volume of callers to the wake and at how well attended Niall’s requiem Mass was.
“What has come across is that there were two sides to Niall, the mainly private struggle he had with his addiction but the side that had a kind greeting and a willingness to help those he met on a daily basis.

“A common thread in the anecdotes shared was that Niall approached everything at 110 miles per hour, unfortunately we know now that his heart was unable to keep up with his frantic pace and finally failed him.”
She added: “Niall’s heart was first broken with the death of his dad in 1978 and he never really recovered. In saying that he drew great joy from his own kids Fionntan and Caoimhe; simply put, they were his life.

“They will no doubt continue to be a source of joy and support to Niall’s extended family and friends.”
