Water pumping has been taking place at the Derrychara Link Road since Sunday to avoid flooding caused by an increased water level in Lough Erne.

The road has been liable to flooding in the past and has been raised by engineers on a number of occasions.

A spokeswoman from the Department for Infrastructure said that the department’s River’s Agency monitors the water levels of Lough Erne on a daily basis.

She said: “Due to an increase in the water level caused by wet weather over the weekend and snow melt, DfI Rivers began pumping at Derrycharra link Road/Erneside on Sunday, February. 11. This pumping will continue until flood waters subside.”
