COMIC fans embraced the magic of Harry Potter recently as they banished the winter blues and joined muggles, witches and wizards for a quiz night in Enniskillen.
34 teams took part in the hotly contested monthly event at Blakes of the Hollow ahead of Enniskillen Comic Fest which returns to Fermanagh on May 11 and 12.
Organiser Paul Trimble said the “hugely enjoyable” quiz night provided “pop culture and entertainment” to comic fans as work gets underway on the popular annual festival.
And he said there will be “something for everybody” when Comic Fest returns later this year.
“The comics industry is incredibly diverse with comics available in every genre and aimed at both genders and all ages. The Enniskillen Comic Fest will have a wide range of events taking place to celebrate comic art and culture, and promote sequential art and storytelling.
“There will be many top creators present from across the UK and Ireland who have worked for British and American publishers,” Mr. Trimble told The Impartial Reporter.
The festival includes a variety of workshops, talks, mentoring sessions and portfolio reviews over two days with programmes running in schools on May 11. Comic creators will be on hand to demonstrate and talk about their work to pupils while on May 12 there will be an open day for the public with a full schedule of events.
“The creators will be accessible to everyone for autographs and sketches and there will be an opportunity for aspiring writers and artists to get an invaluable insight into their experiences in the comics industry. Local creators will have a chance to show and sell their work and there will be small press writers and artists from across Ireland,” said Mr. Trimble.
The theme of next month’s quiz will be ‘Father Ted’ and will be held on March 9.
