A pensioner couple were taken to hospital on Tuesday this week following a two vehicle road traffic collision between a lorry and a car on the Pettigo Road, Kesh.
The couple, named locally as Fergus and Alice Hughes from the Dromore area, had been travelling along the Pettigo Road when the collision occurred before 2.20pm on Tuesday.
Mr. Hughes was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital where he is understood to have suffered a number of broken bones.
A spokesperson for the Western Trust has described his condition as “comfortable”.
Mrs. Hughes was taken to South West Acute Hospital where she is said to be “critical but stable”.
Diversions were in place throughout Tuesday afternoon and the road remained closed late that night.
