A 27-YEAR-OLD man entered his ex-girlfriend’s home while uninvited and caused “completely unnecessary and wanton” damage, Fermanagh Magistrates Court has heard.

Nathan Alexander Bryans, of Galliagh Park, Enniskillen, had been charged with damaging numerous household items and unlawfully assaulting his ex-partner’s mother on December 3, 2017.

The court heard that, on December 3, police received a 999 call from the mother of the defendant’s ex-partner. She had heard someone enter her house and initially assumed it was her son.

However, she then realised that Bryans had entered the property while uninvited and had caused damage estimated at £100 to a number of items, including photo frames, a lamp and candle holders. During a subsequent interview, the defendant made no comment.

Defending counsel, Ciaran Roddy, told the court that the assault had been of a “technical” nature. He conceded that the damage caused had been “completely unnecessary and wanton”. District judge, Michael Ranaghan, imposed an 18-month Probation Order, 80 hours of community service, fines totalling £200 and compensation of £250 to his ex-partner’s mother.
