MEMBERS of the public have been given the opportunity to have their say on the overall proposed design of the major improvement programme planned for Enniskillen town centre.
The Department for Communities is investing £4.7 million in the Enniskillen public realm scheme, with a further £500,000 being provided by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, to improve the appearance and appeal of the town centre.
The proposed overall design has been developed and approved by the Project Steering Group, which comprises Councillors from the Enniskillen District Electoral Area working in partnership with town centre business representatives.
It includes improvements to footpaths, street lighting, landscaping and street furniture within the town centre.
The improvement project has been designed to significantly enhance the appearance of the town, making it an even more attractive place to live, work, visit and do business.
Public information events took place in Enniskillen in the Townhall last Thursday.
The proposed design was on display at both events. Members of the design team were also in attendance.
The designs continue to be on display for feedback in the Townhall and will be available to view online on the Council’s website at: fermanaghomagh.com
Feedback will then be considered by the design team to finalise the proposed design, which will be submitted for planning approval in July 2018.
Members of the Project Steering Group include Councillors Debbie Coyle (Chair), Paul Blake, Keith Elliott, Robert Irvine, Tommy Maguire and Howard Thornton and six representatives of the local business community, Roci Allen, Joe Kelly, Nuala Lilley, Noelle McAloon, Jonathan Poots and Jonathan Styles.
A representative of South West Ageing Partnership, Valerie Brown, also attends the Steering Group.
