Artist Leo Quinn recently held a solo exhibition of his pop art inspired works at Enniskillen Library.

The exhibition, which showcased a variety of oil paintings, including a dramatic self-portrait, took place over two weeks in the library’s foyer. Commenting on the space, Leo said: “The library was an absolutely excellent exhibition space. The foyer is a great thoroughfare for people coming in and out throughout the day.” He also wanted to extend his thanks to all the library staff who were “absolutely brilliant” and couldn’t have done enough for him.

Leo has returned home to live in Enniskillen having spent 40 years in London where he worked as a Deputy Head Teacher responsible for the arts curriculum in schools. He is a great fan of the pop art styles of Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol, of which he draws influence for his own work.

Talking about the success of the exhibition, Leo said: “It went really well, I sold six paintings and I got three commissions.” He noted that his oil painting on wood of Oscar Wilde received a particularly good response. He also received strong feedback from the library staff, who told him that his exhibition was one of the best that they have hosted there. “It was nice to receive that feedback,” Leo remarked.

Following the exhibition, Leo was approached by the Fermanagh Live Arts Festival who have invited him to present his work as part of their visual arts programme for 2019.
