A group of farmers from Fermanagh will be visiting farms and agricultural companies in Poland next week.

The annual trip organised by Fermanagh Ulster Farmers’ Union will be based in Krakow from Sunday until next Wednesday.

During their four-day trip, the farmers representing all sectors in the county, will visit the Eko-Natura Company which exports beef cattle to many countries.

The farm and company belonging to a farmer who is a former member of the Polish parliament, is situated in the Malopolska region and the 80-hectares is mostly in pasture.

The farm fattens bulls and heifers with Simmentals the main breed.

The farm specialises in selling beef calves with a high growth rate, and the farm can supply directly from the farm as well as advising on animal health and nutrition.

They export calves to many European countries. They also have a sheep flock of around 250 head.

They will also be visiting the Polish Farmer of the Year, who is a dairy farmer in the Gliwice area.

It comprises of four farms, a trading company and companies involved in the production of spirit, energy, milk, rapeseed oil and seed, employing over 80 people.

The farm has a motto, “Everything for agriculture and horticulture.” Other visits will be to a poultry farm and a guided tour of Auschwitz.
