Fermanagh Grassland Club’s winter programme will start on Tuesday next, October 6 with meetings held each month through to March 2016. There is a varied programme organised by the Committee members who have given a lot of thought in terms of its appeal and relevance to the membership.

The meetings are diverse in their topics – covering not just dairying and beef production but other areas such as animal behaviour, soils and farm buildings. Speakers are as local as Lisnaskea and from as far away as Aberdeen. All meetings are held in the Killyhevlin Hotel and start at 8pm.

The Grassland Club’s first meeting on October 6 will be addressed by Brian Costello, a dairy farmer from Boyle, Co Roscommon who will speak on “Coping with Volatile Milk Prices.” Given the current state of the dairy industry this is a timely address which will interest and inform our producers. The October meeting will be an “Open Meeting” where non-members can attend and which will be sponsored by the Vaughan Trust.

In addition to their winter programme, Fermanagh Grassland Club also organise a spring outing to dairy and beef farms, a summer farm walk on a member’s farm and both grazing and silage competitions.
