A leading Fermanagh Beltex sheep breeder has enjoyed major success in the annual flock competition.
Matthew Burleigh enjoyed success at the Irish Beltex Sheep Breeders Club Annual Flock Competition Awards Night Dinner held at the Glenavon House Hotel in Cookstown recently.
Matthew, from Kinawley, had a hat-trick of class wins, two thirds and his flock was also named Reserve large flock Champion in the prestigious Competition, which had a record number of entries this year.
Matt’s flock won the large ewe lambs class, best ewe lambs class, and took the large ram lamb class with Matt’s Kingledores Apollo.
He took third place in the large stock ram class with Matt’s Hackney Wonderboy and was also third in the large flock of ewes class.
Matthew was absolutely delighted with his tremendous winning tally in the competition.
“There was very stiff competition this year and it is very pleasing to feature so prominently amongst the awards,” said Matthew, who had a successful show season.
Judging of this year’s competition was carried out by Neale and Janet McQuistin from Stranraer.
