There will be lucrative prize funds on offer at this year"s Enniskillen Horse and Pony Show which is being held at Necarne Castle, this Saturday, June 20.
Preparations are well underway for the annual event.
'A full range of horse and pony showing classes are planned, alongside a wide variety of Show-Jumping Classes,' explained Desmond Rolston, Chairman. 'There should be something to suit everyone.'
Mr John Chambers, Senior Course Builder said, 'The ground conditions at Necarne are always superb. We are able to jump outdoors on grass regardless of the weather conditions, as the surface has been specially prepared, and is carefully managed. Necarne is definitely one of the best grass venues in Northern Ireland.'
John went on, 'We are looking forward to a big turnout of competitors. One of the highlights will be the Fermanagh District Council Mini Grand Prix, with a prize fund of £500.' Other show jumping classes will also be run, from horse 90cms upwards, and 128cm to 148cm pony jumping classes.
In relation to showing classes, there will be all of the usual show pony classes from leading rein upwards, alongside classes for broodmares, young stock, miniature horses, ridden hunters, working hunters and Connemara qualifiers.
This year, the Committee have decided to run a Family Fun Day alongside the Show, with a Bouncy Castle for children and a dog show for four legged friends, in and effort to appeal to non-equine enthusiasts.
Dog classes are now incorporated into many agricultural shows.
Showjumping classes will start at 9am, and showing classes at 11am. The Dog Section will get underway at 2.30pm. Schedules and further details are available from secretary Lynn Woods - telephone 07989586254 or email enniskillenhorseshow@yahoo.co.uk. Entries can be made on the day.
This is the 9th year that this event has been held at Necarne Castle, Irvinestown.
