It has been a hectic start to the show season for the Crawford Brothers from Maguiresbridge. Soon after their success at Balmoral Show where they had a team of 15 cattle, they have been exhibiting at most of the local agricultural shows including Ballymoney and at the weekend, the Armagh Show.
At Ballymoney Show, the Crawfords took the overall Limousin championship with their stylish heifer, Sylvane Duchess, who took first place in her class as well as overall champion and champion calf of the show.
At Armagh Show on Saturday, the Crawfords won trophies for the interbreed beef cow champion and reserve, the interbreed beef heifer champion and the interbreed beef champion. They took the silverware following successes in the Limousin classes, almost taking the clean sweep of rosettes, winning the Limousin championship and classes for junior bull, cow, heifer born in 2008 and calfl. They also won a class in the Charolais breed section.
Also at Armagh Show, several other local exhibitors had success. Frank Kelly, of Tempo, took the Reserve Supreme Simmental Champion with his homebred heifer while Andrew Hanna, of Irvinestown took the Simmental male champion with Bridgemount Vixon.
