Equine student at the Enniskillen Campus were celebrating yesterday (Wednesday) as the awards ceremony for degrees and other qualifications was held.
Students from all over Ireland gathered at the Campus to hear Mr. Joe Hernon, Chairman of the European Federation of Thoroughbred Breeders Association speak aobut the future of the industry here.
Mr. Hernon also presented many of the prizes.
The degrees were conferred on students by Professor Richard Barnett, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ulster and the equine science awards by Professor Sean Arkins, head of the Department of Life Sciences, University of Limerick.
Among those speaking were Mr. Robert Houston, Chief Veterinary Officer at DARD, Mr. John Fay, Director of CAFRE and Mr. Seamus McAlinney, Head of Campus.
Among the awards was First Class Honours degree conferred on Stephen Farrwell of Dromore, Co. Tyrone and to Amy McGuckin of Castlederg.
A BTEC National Diploma in Horse Management went to Samantha Balfour of Enniskillen and Seana Tracey, Tempo as well as Lloyd Harte, Ballinamallard.
