Judges from Scotland, England, the Republic of Ireland and throughout Northern Ireland, had the difficult job of selecting the winning entries among the livestock section at the Clogher Valley Show.

The Charolais and Aberdeen Angus breeds attracted the largest number of exhibits with breeders from all six counties taking part in the various classes and championships.

Local breeders retained their strong position in the showring winning many of the classes and some of the breed championships.

Raymond Crawford of Maguiresbridge continued his winning season with his prizewinning herd of Limousins, by lifting the breed championship but the Charolais breed champion left the area going to Gilbert Crawford of Maghera.

William Adams of Fivemiletown finished reserve in the Belgian Blue championship for his prizewinning bull.

The Simmental breed champion was taken by Pat Kelly for his cow while Reserve champion and male champion was lifted by William Nelson of Rosslea with his prizewinning bull.Harold Stubbs took reserve in the male championship.

This year, better tying facilities were provided to ensure a smoother lead in to the judging for the cattle handlers.

As farmers, their families and many visitors from walked around the showgrounds in mostly dry conditions, there was an upbeat atmosphere evident.

The BBC Radio Ulster's Hugo Duncan entertained the crowds during his live broadcast as other people took time out to visit the many trade stands featuring all facets of the agricultural industry and home life.

The horses and ponies were competing for honours in a separate field and the every popular dog show had brought together one of the largest entries on record.
