Animal Health firm, Elanco and the Young Farmers' Clubs of Ulster (YFCU) have announced an exciting sponsorship agreement, which will see the leading international veterinary pharmaceutical manufacturer supporting a number of exciting activities for young people in rural areas across Northern Ireland.

"We are really looking forward to working in partnership with YFCU," confirmed Elanco's Michelle McCotter, while speaking at this week's launch event.

"YFCU members are the farmers of tomorrow. And Elanco is totally committed to the future of agriculture in Northern Ireland.

"Our agreement with the YFCU will allow us to provide additional, on-farm training opportunities for its members. But there will be a very strong fun element as well."

In welcoming the initiative agreed with Elanco, YFCU President Thoburn McCaughey highlighted the fact that its benefits will be felt at the grass roots of the organisation.

"All of our clubs will have the opportunity of actively participating in the range of events and activities planned with Elanco for the next year."

He added: "We are a voluntary organisation and rely on the energy and enthusiasm of our 2,500 plus members. Sponsorship of our activities and events is of vital importance and joining forces with Elanco in this way helps our cause immeasurably."

The YFCU and Elanco will be rolling out their jointly agreed campaign over the coming weeks. However, it will include a group debating competition and a series of on-farm training demonstrations.

"But things will 'kick off', in every sense of the word, with our 2011 girls' football tournament," Thoburn McCaughey confirmed.

"Heats will take place early May with the finals scheduled for the Cattle Lawn on the Wednesday evening of Balmoral Show."
