Agriculture, horticulture and food should be considered by students who are receiving their examination results this week, according to Agriculture Minister, Michelle O'Neill.
The Minister has reminded students about the courses that are on offer at CAFRE's three campuses.
The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE), offers courses in agriculture, agricultural engineering, horticulture, floristry, food and equine studies across three campuses in Greenmount-Antrim, Loughry -Cookstown and Enniskillen.
Commenting on the studying opportunities at CAFRE, the Minister said: "In the next few days school leavers will have to make some very big decisions about their future careers. In the current difficult economic climate, it is more important than ever that they make the right choices.
"CAFRE offers a range of higher and further education courses, for the agri-food and landbased sectors, at its three campuses. You can study to become a garden designer, a florist, a veterinary nurse or an agricultural engineer. If you prefer to work in the food industry you can develop new food products, design better packaging or manage the production of our local favourite foods."
She added: "If you are interested in studying something different, CAFRE is holding open evenings at each campus location during August; at Greenmount on 22 and 25 August and at Enniskillen and Loughry campuses on the 25 August. Many courses are also available on a part-time basis for those who are already working.
"I would like to urge any school leaver who is considering an active career to come along to one of CAFRE's open days and see what they have to offer."
