Farmers are being invited to consider Farm Welding course at CAFRE.

Courses are currently being organised for this autumn and winter at both our Greenmount and Enniskillen Campuses. The courses take place over ten evenings and cost £64 per person. The topics covered include: Systems used for welding, cutting and heating, Safety and personal protective clothing, Bead Welds, MMA and MIG welding and Butt, Single Vee and fillet joints, says Kevin O'Donnell, College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE), Greenmount Campus

The aim of the course is to develop each individual's welding skills at a pace that suits them, whilst still being flexible enough to challenge the better welders. On successful completion of the course there is an opportunity to progress on to the Advanced Farm Welding course where skills such as MIG corner joints, oxyacetylene welding, vertical and overhead welds are covered.

In addition at the end of the Basic Farm Welding course, there is an option to have your work assessed and achieve a certificate at NVQ level 2 by the Open College Network for Northern Ireland.

If you want more information or are interested in attending the Basic Farm Welding course contact Jennifer Ball at 028 9442 6879 or visit the CAFRE website at www.cafre.ac.uk (search for "Basic Farm Welding").
