NI Texel Club members travelled to the Ulster Farmers Mart for their Club Sale in Enniskillen recently.

The sale opened with the shearling entries with the Judge, Chrissy Mullan of BlueGate Texels awarding his first prize shearling to Alistair Breen, Drumderg Texels, Enniskillen taking £483 for his strong shearling, a son of Humeston Talent. Adrian Liggett, Corbo Texels, Omagh saw his second placed entry, a Seneirl Sam son change hands for £367, while the third prize shearling, a son of Fairywater Turbo from Andrew Hutchinson, Round Island Texels, Newtownbutler sold for £294.

The Judge awarded his first place rosette and Overall Champion to a lamb presented by A&J Young, Kilrail House Texels, Castlederg. Mr. Mullan later purchased this sale topper for £525. He is a son of Milestonehill Toploader out of an Orrisdale Obsession daughter. Next to make the money was the second placed lamb and Reserve Champion from Brian Williamson’s, Farmhill Flock, Omagh. His McBride U2 son out of a Glenside Lion King daughter sold to £483. Maintaining the steady trade, Mr Ernest Hog Bunnahesco Texels, Lisbellaw, sold a Deveronvale Top Gun son out of a Kelso Platinum dam for £472.50 with Christina McEldowney, Screeby Texels, Trillick selling her Stainton Ricochet son out of a Humeston Starbuck sired dam for £420.

Overall trade was good with 88% clearance. Sale of shearling rams averaging £381 and ram lambs averaging £295.64.
