A presentation on the “Save Our Magnificent Meadows” project which protects wildflower species in Fermanagh’s hay meadows, is being given tonight(Thursday) in the Field Studies Centre, Derrygonnelly.

Giles Knight from Ulster Wildlife will give an informal talk on “Save our Magnificent Meadows” and the reasons why everyone should be proud of the species rich meadows that can still be found in the county. There will ample opportunity to discuss how they can best conserve these special places, and perhaps even enhance and extend them. Ulster Wildlife has secured a guest speaker, Dr. Maurice Eakin from the National Parks and Wildlife Service in County Meath. He will be speaking about the connections between their own species and the wildlife and places around us. Maurice undertook research into Fermanagh’s meadows in the mid-nineties and promises a lively presentation that will offer much food for thought on why habitats such as our meadows are so important to so many aspects of our lives. Giles said: “We look forward to welcoming you along to the FSC this evening, and encourage anyone with an interest in our rural environment to join us.”
