The Northern Ireland Charolais Club held their 9th Suckled Calf Show of the season at the Ulster Farmers’ Mart, Enniskillen on Tuesday evening with excellent quality calves being presented and superb trade in the ring.
Buyers travelled long distances to get a chance to buy quality Charolais calves.
The judges, Eimear and Caoimhe McGovern from Clogher selected the calf exhibited by Tom Parke of Springfield as the Overall Champion Charolais Suckled Calf. The Reserve Champion Charolais Suckled Calf was owned by Colin McGovern of Belcoo.
Results; Male Calf Born in 2014 - 1, Tom Parke, weighing 356kgs and sold for £1100; 2, Francis Coulter, 370kgs selling for £930; 3, Francis Coulter, 428kgs selling for £890.
Female Calf born in 2014 - 1, Colin McGovern, 393kgs and sold for £1410; 2, Noel Hunter, 423kgs and sold for £1260; 3, Desmond Knox, selling for 394kgs and sold for £890.
The Club said they were indebted to the Directors of Ulster Farmers Mart Ltd for hosting the show and salem, to the judges and to Ulster Bank, Show sponsor.
