Fermanagh’s John Egerton is the Beef Farmer of the Year in this year’s Farming Life and Danske Bank Celebrating Excellence in Farming Awards.
John, who farms near Rosslea, was named the winner at a gala dinner in the Ramada Hotel, Belfast on Thursday evening where the guest speaker was the First Minister, Peter Robinson.
John, who is well known for his highly efficient suckler management, won the title in a section sponsored by Zoetis where there was intense competition.
Two other farmers also featured highly in the awards; James Armstrong from Florencecourt was named Highly Commended in the Sheep Farmer of the Year category sponsored by Diane Dodds MEP and Allan Brady, also from Florencecourt, was Highly Commended in the Wildlife Farmer of the Year section where the sponsor was RSPB.
