Fermanagh breeders and buyers were in evidence at the first Balmoral Bull Sales where the top price was 9200gns.

Organised by livestock auctioneer Richard Beattie there was a catalogued entry of 120 head with bulls and females from 10 beef breeds.

Each breed was judged the day prior to the sale by William Smith, Oldcastle and Terry Coghill, Orkneys watched by a packed ringside of spectators.

Females also caught the eye of the packed ringside with Stuart and David Bothwell cashing in Killadeas Ingrid for 4000 guineas. This flashy maiden heifer is sired by Blackford Dynamite.

Spirited bidding continued right from the word go, to the last animal in the book with a good clearance recorded.

“The atmosphere and crowd that the Balmoral Bull Sales has attracted has surpassed all expectations.

“We have already booked the 6/7th March to run our next event and would welcome both exhibitors and buyers to join us again then,” said Richard.

Among the prices were; S & D Bothwell, St. Angelo, Ballinamallard, for their Charolais, Killadeas Isreal selling for 3700gns; Kenneth Veitch, Lisbellaw with his Charolais, Drumlone Ivanhoe, selling for 3000gns; Pat Hackett, Augher, for his Charolais, Fury Itis 3000gns.

In the females section, S and D. Bothwell received 4,000 gns for their Charolais, Killadeas Ingrid; Harold Stubbs and Alan Burleigh received 3,900gns for their Charolais heifer, Derryharney Icedancer and Pat Hackett, received 3,300gns for his Charolais, Fury Hazel.
