People in rural Fermanagh and Tyrone are being encouraged to participate in the new Local Action Groups which are being formed to deliver £70 million of grant aid to rural initiatives.

After a delay, the public meetings in both counties to coincide with the new Fermanagh and Omagh Council which will explain the roles of LAGs have now been announced.

The meetings are being held as follows; December 3 at Belcoo Community Centre; December 4 at Castle Park Leisure Centre, Lisnaskea; December 8 at An Creagan Visitors Centre, Creggan; December 10 at Bawnacre Centre, Irvinestown and December 11 at Ecclesville Centre, Fintona. All meeting begin at 7.30pm.

According to the Rural Network NI: “The success and effectiveness of each LAG will be reflected in its membership so it is vital that they receive as much support as possible to create tangible change across Northern Ireland.

“Your involvement will help guide rural areas into becoming wealth creators and providers of social and economic opportunities through job creation, business development, village renewal and service provision. Don’t leave rural development to chance, come along, get involved and be part of the local action and make the difference your rural area deserves.” Further information on LAGs and all the public meetings can be found at: www.ruralnetworkni.org.uk
