The Harper-Ireland Club at the Harper Adams University will be holding their annual dinner next Friday evening, February 27.

The guest speaker is Owen Brennan, Executive Chairman of Devenish Nutrition.

The Harper-Ireland Club is the organisation for over 100 students from Ireland enrolled on courses at Harper Adams University in Shropshire. Adam Patterson from Crumlin who is studying Agricultural Engineering at Harper will be chairing the dinner but the incoming Harper-Ireland Club Chairman for 2015/16 is James Law, a former Portora student from Ederney.

Owen Brennan grew up on a small family merchant and farming business in Co. Carlow. He graduated in agriculture from UCD in 1982 and obtained an MBA in 1992. Owen’s business career has focused on animal nutrition firstly with Connolly’s Red Mills and then with Nutec and now Devenish of which he is now Executive Chairman.

Owen has served as President of the Northern Ireland Grain Trade, on the Northern Ireland Food Strategy Board and for seven years as Chairman of the Livestock & Meat commission.
