Ploughmen from across Northern Ireland and the Border counties of the Republic will be supporting the Fermanagh and Tyrone Ploughing match at the Rash Estate, near Omagh this Saturday, March 14.
The plots have already been marked and the ground is said to be in excellent order.
Secretary, Albert Hetherington has asked competitors to have ploughs in the field by 10am.
All the usual classes will be catered for including world style open and confined, trailer plough, vintage open and confined, three-furrow, beginners and horse plough. Special awards will be given for the best back, best finish, champion of the field, best kept tractor and youngest ploughman.
Among the competitors entered are David Gill, a world champion, as well as Brian O’Neill and his son, Kieran.
Albert Hetherington said the Society led by Chairman, Johnny Alexander, were indebted to all the sponsors “from Newtownbutler to Newtownstewart” to help them put on the event.
The cups will be presented at a dance in the Bridge Inn, Trillick on Saturday, April 11.
