Farmers are preparing to spread slurry with ground conditions improving.
DUP Councillor, Paul Robinson has reminded farmers of a farm safety event taking place tomorrow(Friday) evening, March 20 in Clogh Community Hall, Rosslea starting at 7.45pm.
He said: “We are once again around to that busy time of the year for putting out slurry mixing tanks and working with farm machines. Remember that P.T.O shafts on machinery can pull in nine feet of clothing per second.
“Stop and Think replace broken P.T.O. shafts and service machinery regularly. With the lighter evenings and the Easter holidays, watch out for the children on the farms.
“A lot of our cows are calving and the cows are protecting their calves and can be very dangerous. Gardeners and gardening are well under way again. Think safe with protective clothing when strimming and using any form of machines, equipment.
This event will also include trade stands from Rural Support P.C.S.P on Rural Crime, Glenview Farms Safety Equipment and Maurice Allen Chainsaw and Gardening safety Equipment, Newtownbulter.
