Local students including some from Fermanagh have been rewarded for their talent at a M&S ‘Farming for the Future’ Award presentation, which took place at the Balmoral Show.
Students from Greenmount College scooped awards in the Linden Foods Supply Chain Project which champions forward-thinking individuals who demonstrate they have what it takes to work within the food supply chain.
The project is part of a Marks & Spencer Education Programme developed in partnership with Linden Foods and Greenmount College. Students take part in practical situations on the farm at Greenmount, within Linden Foods and in-store with M&S and are also required to produce concepts for potential M&S food products.
A judging panel, made up of representatives from M&S, Linden Foods and Greenmount College assess the students, with the winning team attending an away day at M&S Head Office at Waterside in London where they learn about the commercial aspect of retailing and meet M&S food technologists.
