With more poultry units operating in Fermanagh, farmers will want to know more about trends in the industry and learn from other people’s experiences.

The Northern Ireland Poultry Industry Conference, which takes place at CAFRE’s Loughry Campus on Tuesday, October 27, will have the theme, “Delivering More From Less.” Conference Chairman is Patrick McLaughlin, Chief Executive for GB and Ireland, Devenish Nutrition.

After registration at 9.30am, and welcome by the Conference Chairman, the opening address will be given by Noel Lavery, Permanent Secretary at DARD at 10.15am.

The morning session will be chaired by James Ryan, Managing Director of Hy-Line, Ireland and will involve speakers, Randy Borg, Director for European Genetics Cobb Vantress Inc, looking at broiler genetics; Stephen Turner, Technical Director of Hendrix Genetics, looking at advances in layer genetics and Eugene Philhower, Consultant, US Soybean Export Council, who will discuss advances in raw materials, bio-technologies and sustainability.

The afternoon session will be chaired by Kieron Forbes, Technical Director, Agri-research(Ireland) Ltd. and will include speeches from Dave Heckman, Global Marketing Consultant, Elanco Animal Health looking at innovation and proven technologies in poultry health and David Trimble, Renewable Energy Technologist, CAFRE, examining alternative energy solutions.
