UK Prime Minister David Cameron

FERMANAGH'S Lough Erne Resort has been confirmed as the location for next year's G8 Summit.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron announced his chosen location for the 2013 sumit today during a visit to Northern Ireland.

"I want to show the world what a beautiful place Northern Ireland is," Mr Cameron said during his announcement.

Describing Northern Ireland as a "fantastic place" for business and investment and boasting an "incredibly educated and trained workforce", Mr Cameron wondered if he would have bother keeping US President Barack Obama off the five-star luxury resort's golf course.

As exclusively revealed by The Impartial Reporter last week, world leaders including President Obama will descend on Fermanagh next June to hold talks.

Preparations in the County are already under way for the summit.

During his visit to the province today Mr Cameron paid an early morening visit to the Lough Erne Resort.

It is believed that the five-star luxury golf resort has been selected as the venue for the 39th meeting next June because of its out of town location and the fact that it is surrounded by water.

However it suffered a setback this week when an intense fire occurred in the spa/pool area of the resort early yesterday morning.

Firefighters spend over three hours tackling the blaze.

An investigation has begun into the cause of the fire but police say it is not being treated as suspicious.
