The death has taken place peacefully of Patricia O’Connor.
Trisha as she was fondly known was born the fourth daughter of Malachy and Anne O’Connor on October 30, 1957.
Despite being born with Down’s Syndrome, she lived a full and rewarding life.
She grew up with her parents and siblings and was loved and protected by them.
Trisha got her early education at Clonmaulin P.S. and St. Mary’s Newtownbutler.
Following this she attended the Day Care Centre in Killadeas and finally the Day Care Centre at Share.
Trisha was a very sociable and fun loving person who made many friends. Her love of music brought her all over Ireland where she met many of her favourite singers - Daniel O’Donnell, Philomena Begley to name a few.
Trisha’s family meant everything to her and she was a loyal daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
She took great pride in her appearance and loved her visits to the hairdressers and beauticians. Her passion was the Share Centre where she was loved by her friends and staff alike.
Trisha was left with a huge void in her life when she lost her beloved parents in 2001 within three weeks of each other.
Despite her great sorrow she shared her time with her brothers, sisters and their families. She also enjoyed going on respite where she became one of the families she stayed with.
Trisha’s health deteriorated in July 2014 and in September she was admitted to Gortacharn Private Nursing Home where she resided until her death. She was looked after with great dignity and affection by the staff and her family who visited daily.
Trisha passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and with the gentle strains of her beloved Country music playing in the background.
Trisha reposed at the home of her brother where her popularity was reflected by the huge number of mourners who came from all over Ireland to pay their respects to this ‘special lady’.
The funeral service was concelebrated by Father Mohan and Father King.
Father Mohan spoke fondly of Trisha’s love of life and of her family.
The funeral arrangements were carried out in a dignified and caring manner by Swift and McCaffery, Lisnaskea.
Trisha was interred in Mount Saint Oliver graveyard in the family plot alongside her beloved parents.
She is survived by her sisters Betty, Geraldine, Imelda and Dolores and by her brothers Paul and Gary, also by her brothers in-law, sisters-in law, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, aunts, uncle and many cousins.
Trisha’s motto in life must surely have been ‘embrace life’ with lots of love.
Her hugs and kisses were that of a very ‘special person’ who enriched and blessed the lives of all who knew her.
