The peaceful passing occurred on January 14, 2016, of Doreen Wilson, née Kennedy, at her home after a long illness, at the age of 91 years.
Doreen was born on July 22, 1924, second daughter of Andrew and Margaret Kennedy, Macken.
Doreen attended Druminiskill School; on leaving school she went to work in the Rectory, Florencecourt, for Canon Jackson until she met Jack Wilson and they got married and made their home in Tattenamona, where she lived happily until she fell ill a few years past.
She was most happy when she was at home spending time spoiling her nieces and nephews and working in the garden, looking after the flowers. Doreen was a popular member of Florencecourt and the wider community mainly due to her friendly, outgoing and kind personality.
Doreen was in the choir in Killesher Parish Church. She was also a member of the Mothers’ Union, Killesher Health and Care Society; the W.I., The Ladies’ Lodge, and also the Badminton Club in early years.
Doreen has been looked after and cared for by her devoted niece Linda. She is survived by her sisters, Maud, The Tilery, Florencecourt, Bella, Monkstown, Newtownabbey, Adeline, Oakfield, Enniskillen, and brother Andy, Ross, Bellanaleck, and nieces and nephews. Doreen was predeceased by her brother William in 2010 and by her husband Jack 25 years ago.
The funeral services were by Canon Ruiters.
Doreen will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her sorrowing family and wider circle of friends. The funeral arrangements were carried out by S.R. Elliott and Sons, Darling Street, Enniskillen.
