A well-known native of Clogher, Mrs. Mary Ellen Williamson, best known as May, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2016, at St. Macartan’s Nursing Home in Clogher. Late of Brackenridge View, 3 Augher Road, Clogher, she was 94 years old.
Formerly Tierney, of Slatmore, Clogher, she was born on September 9, 1921, and educated in the locality. She married Lexie Williamson from Clogher and they set up home in the Clogher area.
They had a family of ten - George, John, Betty, Ann, Alex, Ruth, Olive, Myrtle, Alma and the late Harold.
May focused on her home and family as her main interest.
Her Church was of major importance to May, who was a member of Lungs Gospel Hall, where her funeral service was held. She was born again on October 4, 1947.
Another interest had been the Women’s Institute and she was a long serving member of Clogher W.I.
Her funeral service was held on February 17 in Lung’s Gospel Hall; the service was taken by Mr. Jim Wishart, a long standing family friend, accompanied by Mr. Gary Woods. The tribute was read by Mr. John McFarland. Burial was in the adjoining Churchyard.
Predeceased by her husband Lexie and by her son, Harold, May is survived by her sons and daughters: George (Muriel); John (Helen); Betty (the late Ivan); Ann (David); Alex (Joe); Ruth (Philip); Olive (Ronnie); Myrtle (Chris); and Alma (Gary). One in a family of nine, one brother Jim survives her.
The funeral arrangements were by Funeral Directors, S.R. Elliott and Sons, Darling Street, Enniskillen.
