The death took place peacefully on December 15, 2016, of Mrs. Susanna Magee (formerly Cullen, Gargrim, Fintona) from Loughan, Monea.

Sue, as she was affectionately known, was born on December 17, 1944. Her father was Laurence Cullen, and her mother was Brigid.

The eldest of a family of 10, Sue is survived by her sisters Mary, Josie, Margaret, Bernadette, Marian and Dympna and her brothers Patsy, Michael and Francis.

In her late teens Sue travelled from her home in Fintona to Epsom to train to be a nurse, before returning home to care for her mother who had fallen ill. It was when she returned to Fintona she met her future husband Anthony Magee.

Sue and Anthony were married in St. Lawrence’s Church and they had four sons, John (Suzanne), Declan (Arlene), Dermott (Zoe) and Liam (Colleen) and a daughter Anne. Sadly Anne passed away at only four months of age. Her beloved husband Anthony passed away after a short illness in 1998.

The family lived on their farm at Loughan, Monea. Once her sons were at school Sue returned to work. She started her own home bakery and was renowned in the area for her pavlovas. Later Sue took up a role within Tir Navar in Derrygonnelly until ill health meant she could no longer work.

Sue was also a devoted grandmother to Eabha, Finn, Méabh, Charlie, Belle, Kerrianne, Clodagh and Harvey.

She is remembered as a very hard working woman, who had a very caring nature.

Her passing occurred peacefully at South West Acute Hospital, and her family is very appreciative of the care received there, both in her final visit to hospital and indeed over numerous previous visits.

Her Funeral Mass, held at The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Monea, was celebrated by Fr Jimmy McPhillips. Family involvement in the service included that by her son Liam who did the first reading and by her three nieces who did Prayers of Intercession and her grandchildren, Eabha, Finn and Méabh who brought up the gifts. Her son John also read the reflection.

Burial was at the adjoining cemetery, where she was laid to rest with her husband Anthony and daughter Anne.

The funeral arrangements were by Funeral Director, Leanne McGovern, Derrygonnelly.

Sue’s Month’s Mind Mass was held in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Monea on Saturday, January 28.
