Eileen Donegan (née McDaid), 53 Riverside, Cornagrade, Enniskillen and formerly of Culliondoo, Newtownbutler passed away suddenly and peacefully in her own home on Sunday, September 17, 2017.

Eileen’s funeral mass was celebrated in St. Michael’s Church, Enniskillen, by Monsignor Peter O’Reilly and she was interred in St. Mary’s Church, Newtownbutler by Fr. King. Eileen is survived by her sister Anna Courtney, Newtownbutler.

Eileen was married to Frank Donegan in 1965 and entered the warmth of the Donegan family, where strong and lasting relationships among the extended Donegan family flourished over a lifetime. Frank sadly predeceased Eileen some 12 years ago and Eileen’s brothers Michael and Paddy McDaid also predeceased her.

As soon as Eileen reached adulthood she moved to Enniskillen and lived and worked there all her life; initially in Taylor Woods and subsequently in Kent Plastics. Eileen loved her work and made lifelong friends there.

Eileen and her late husband Frank were a much loved couple and in particular by their many nieces and nephews who hold very many cherished memories of them both. Indeed Eileen also had strong bonds of love and friendship with her grandnieces and nephews.

Eileen had a wonderful affection for children and her generosity and kindness to both children and adults alike knew no bounds.

Her door was always open and a warm welcome was guaranteed to all who called.

Eileen was a modest lady who enjoyed the simple things in life. She had a very strong faith and since her retirement some years ago attended Mass daily.

Eileen loved traditional and country music; she was very sociable and engaging; she had a great sense of humour and had many friends. She always had time to stop and talk to people and was a very familiar and charismatic character around her beloved town of Enniskillen.

Eileen was an active member of her local community and was involved in many groups and associations. She was always willing to help others, loved the opportunity to do so and loved engaging with people no matter where she was.

Eileen enriched so many people’s lives and a terrible void has been left with her passing; a void which will be sorely felt by her family, friends and neighbours.

The funeral arrangements were by Funeral Director John McKeegan, Enniskillen. The Month’s Memory Mass will be held in St. Mary’s Church, Newtownbutler, on Sunday, October 15, 2017, at 11.30am.
