The death took place peacefully, surrounded by his family, at his home 'The Rawe', Brookeborough of Mr. James Edgar McMahon on October 16, 2009, after a short illness. Previously he enjoyed good health and led a very active life.

Edgar was born on September 13, 1921 and was brought up at Derryloman, Brookeborough. He came from a family of 13. On leaving school he took up farming full time on his home farm.

In June 1951, he married Martha Little (who pre-deceased him in 1987) and they lived for a short time at Murley and then moved in 1952 to 'The Rawe', Brookeborough, where they had their son Julian, who has two children Elaine and Mark.

First and foremost Edgar was a family man. He took a great interest in people of all ages. He loved to visit and be visited by family and friends. Most of his working life was spent farming and even when he retired he retained a keen interest in the home farm. He was a member a Cooneen L.O.L. 1010 of which he was the chaplain for many years. Edgar's faith in Jesus sustained him throughout his life but especially so throughout his illness. He was a member of Grogey Methodist Church until it closed and then Fivemiletown Methodist Church. He also attended Stonepark Baptist Church regularly. He actively supported the Faith Mission by having prayer meetings in his own home. For many years Edgar's courage and dignity during his illness testified to a living faith.

Edgar will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him, especially his son Julian, daughter-in-law Carole, grandchildren Elaine and Mark, his brothers and sisters and the wider family circle.

His widely attended funeral service, reflecting the high regard felt for Edgar, was held at St. Ronan's Parish Church, Colebrooke on October 18, 2009. It was conducted by the Rev. Daphne Twinem, assisted by Pastor Harry Dowds and Mr. George Conn. The funeral arrangements were by W.T. Morrison, Darling Street, Enniskillen.
