The death has occurred of Terence Dolan, affectionately known as Terry to all his family and friends.
Terry passed away peacefully on Monday February 8, 2010 at the Erne Hospital, Enniskillen surrounded by his family.
Terry was born on July 29, 1925 and was one of three children of Michael and Margaret Alice Dolan. Born in Bellevue Ring, Enniskillen, a place of which he had fond memories, he was well known and popular. He was predeceased at an early age by his mother and younger brother Vincent.
Terry was educated at the Presentation Brothers School, Enniskillen before starting work on the family farm alongside his father and twin brother Francie. His life was tinged with sadness at the passing of his father in January 1974 and then his twin brother and best friend Francie 10 months later in November 1974.
Terry married Mary (nee Cassidy) from Belcoo and set up home in Magonragh, Lisbellaw where they had two children, Geraldine and Tommy.
Terry was a meticulous worker and worked in a courteous manner. He was an extremely hardworking and conscientious man. A fit and healthy man with inexhaustible energy he greatly enjoyed walking and loved working on the farm. He enjoyed the outdoor life. He always had a smile and yarn for everyone he met and neighbours in difficulty often turned to him for a hand which was given without question.
As well as having an interest in concerts and music, Terry loved dancing and the odd game of cards. He also loved to ceilidh with his friends and neighbours. He was active in parish activities as well. He was a member of the St. Mary's Silver Band committee for a number of years and loved to travel on outings with the band. He was also on the Pioneer Committee and was on the fundraising team for St. Mary's Community Centre which opened in 1989.
Throughout his life he was a devoted Catholic. He received the sacraments on a regular basis. His faith gave him great comfort during his life and especially during his long illness which he bore with great dignity.
His family are extremely grateful to the dedicated staff of Millcroft Nursing Home for their kindness, care and support.
They value the kind neighbours and friends who enquired or visited him over the fifteen months.
Terry was predeceased by his wife Mary 13 years ago. He is survived by his daughter Geraldine, son Tommy, grandchildren, nephews John, Gaby, Patsy and Michael Dolan, niece Mary Fee, cousins, relatives and friends. The funeral arrangements were carried out by John McKeegan and Tony Kelly.
