The death occurred, peacefully, after a short illness in the Erne Hospital, Enniskillen, on Monday, 26th April, of Mary Rebecca (Beck) Hurst, late of Cloughtate, Enniskillen.

Beck was the daughter of the late Robert and Louisa Johnston, Drumralla, Newtownbutler. The sixth child in a family of 12, Beck received her education at Newtownbutler Primary School and then went into domestic service and later worked in S. D. Kells, Lisnaskea. However having a caring nature and being ambitious she moved to England and began a career in nursing. After some time she came home and on 14th June, 1951 she married William Hurst of Cloughtate, Enniskillen, where they made their home. They had two children, Roy and Rhona. Beck was a dedicated and loving wife and mother and she always had a warm welcome for anyone who called at the home.

Her family and friends played an important part in her life. She enjoyed going on holiday to Portrush with Willie and their friends Ivan and Iris and on short trips both north and south with her daughter and son-in-law Rhona and David.

Beck was a faithful attender and choir member of Derryvullan Parish Church and was a founder member of their Mothers' Union which she attended until recently. She was a member of Tamlaght Women's Institute where she had a great interest in the activities and crafts carried on at the meetings. In her home she displayed many examples of her handiwork.

Beck enjoyed her garden and not only was she proud of the display of colour outside but she had great pleasure in arranging the cut flowers in the home. Friends and family enjoyed the produce from her vegetable garden.

Beck leaves her husband Willie, son Roy, daughter-in-law Phil, daughter Rhona and son-in-law David, her sisters Hazel, Eveline, Myrtle and Jean and brothers Willie, Ronald and George. She was pre-deceased by sister Olive and brothers Robbie, Fred and Victor.

The Service of Thanksgiving was conducted by Canon Stewart, assisted by Rev. Regan, a friend of the family. The lessons were read by Susan Machin, God-daughter and Mrs. Kathleen Kettyle, a member of the Mothers' Union.

Funeral arrangements were carried out by W. T. Morrison, Darling Street, Enniskillen.
