Mrs. Gladys Maxwell

There was great sadness when the death occurred recently after a short illness, in the Erne Hospital of Gladys Maxwell (Marshall), late of Drumwhinney Road, Kesh.

Gladys was born in Armagh in 1941, while the family were living there to escape the war in Belfast. A few years later the family moved back to Belfast and Gladys commenced her schooling at Methodist College.

After leaving Methody, Gladys worked as a book-keeper at Vulcanite Ltd. and after some time she met and married George Maxwell of Aghagaffart, Irvinestown. They made their home on the Stranmillis Road, Belfast and had three children, Derek, Susan and the late Colin.

In 1977 the family moved to Station Road, Kesh and Gladys started working at Kesh playgroup which she ran for many years. Gladys also became involved in local community life and enjoyed attending Kesh W.I. and Kesh development Association.

More recently though Gladys' health deteriorated and she was unable to take such an interest but family and friends were always of great importance to her.

Gladys is survived by son Derek, daughter-in-law Nancy, grandchildren Georgia and Rory (Kesh), daughter Susan and son-in-law Gerard (Antrim) and brother Bert and sister-in-law Ani (Cambridge). She was pre-deceased by husband George and son Colin.

The service of thanksgiving was conducted by Reverend Blair.

Funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. G. McFarland, Kesh.
