The death took place suddenly on Thursday, June 10, 2010, of Isabel Moffitt.

The daughter of William John and Susan Stevenson, Isabel was born on December 9, 1930 at Drumnagreshil, Drumskinney, Kesh. She was the second eldest of a family of seven and as such, as the years went on, worked hard on the family farm and in the Post Office which they ran.

Following her primary education at Drumskinney and Dernasesk schools, she spent a short time at Enniskillen Technical College before transferring to Enniskillen Collegiate Grammar School. From there Isabel went to Stranmillis Teacher Training College and on qualifying she returned to Fermanagh where she taught for a short time in Letterkeen School. She then moved to Kesh Primary School, where she spent the rest of her teaching career, holding the position of vice-principal until her retirement.

Isabel married Alan Moffitt in 1957 in Tubrid Parish Church, conducted by the Rev. J. R. Howe, and they made their home at Thornhill, Lack. They were blessed with four children, Ruth, Heather, George and Sandra.

Isabel had a great love for her family, church and God's work in general. She was faithful in her attendance at Tierwinney Methodist Church and when she and Alan moved to Cornafanog, Maguiresbridge, they joined Brookeborough Methodist Church, where she was a faithful member until her death. She also supported the work of the Faith Mission, C.E.F. and the I.E.B. in Enniskillen. For many years she attended Killadeas Convention or the Camp Meetings as they were affecionately known and it was during one of these meetings that Isabel gave her life to Christ.

Some seven years ago Isabel was diagnosed with a rare medical condition from which, in time, she made a good recovery. The illness however left its mark and there were times when she felt less than well, although few would have known it as she kept busy as usual and never complained.

Isabel was a good friend to all who came in contact with her. She was supportive in very many ways to those who needed encouragement or help and many have spoken about the loving, kind and thoughtful attitude that she displayed.

Isabel's care and quiet unassuming concern was particularly evident from the number of her former pupils who recalled with fondness, memories of their school years and the little kindnesses that spoke so much of her nature and of her Christian love and concern for all.

Isabel's funeral, which was largely attended, took place in Irvinestown Methodist Church on Sunday, June 13, 2010, and was conducted by the Rev. Eleanor Hayden. Mr. George Conn also took part and gave a personal tribute to Isabel's life and her support of the work of the Faith Mission. A letter of tribute from the Rev. Jim Rea, a former minister and personal friend of Isabel's, and who was unable to attend, was read at the service.

The hymns, all favourites of Isabel, were 'There's a land that is fairer than day,' 'There is a Redeemer' and 'How deep the Father's love for us.'

After the service interment took place in Tierwinney Methodist graveyard, Ederney.

Isabel is survived by her sorrowing husband Alan, daughters Ruth, Heather and Sandra; son George; grandchildren Ruth, Graeme, Craig, Dale, Rowan and Oscar. Isabel is also survived by her brothers Robbie, John, Norman and Addison and sisters Doreen and Jean.

Donations in lieu of flowers were to C.E.F. and Faith Mission c/o R. J. Adams, Church Street, Dromore.
