Mr. John William (Damer) Acheson

The death took place at the County Nursing Home, Enniskillen, on July 15, 2010 of John William (Damer) Acheson, the eldest son of the late William and Joyce Acheson, The Hill, Gurteen, Garrison.

Born on Spetmeber 14, 1933, Damer did what most farmers’ sons did at the time, worked on the family farm.

He especially had a great love of cattle and liked attending the old time fair days.

He liked to reminisce about walking cattle to fairs in Garrison, Belleek, and Kiltyclogher. In later years, he liked to attend the local marts and up to the time of his death he liked to hear about his own cattle and their progress.

Damer was also a life-time member of Garrison LOL 885. He was predeceased by his brother Louie, December 2008.

The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. David Skuce (in the absence of the Rev. Noel Regan) in Garrison Parish Church. Burial was in the adjoining graveyard.

The funeral arrangements were by Peter Carty, Garrison.
