On Wednesday, August 4, 2010, Mrs. Letitia Hurst (nee Wilson) passed away at Ashbrooke Care Home, Enniskillen.

Letitia (Tetie) was born on May 3, 1927 at Girgadis, Trillick, a daughter of Thomas and Letitia Wilson.

She was baptised, confirmed and married in Kilskeery Parish Church where she was an active member of the choir, GFS and the Kilskeery Dramatic Society.

She married Roland Hurst on October 5, 1949 and moved to Tullyrain where they had six sons, William, Roland, Alan, Jonathon, Vernon and the late Gordon. Also surviving her are four daughters-in-law, Noreen, Iris, Helen and Claire, and 15 grandchildren. Sadly her husband Roland (Roly) passed away on November 16, 1978, an event she never really recovered from.

She was a member of Magheracross Parish Church, Ballinamallard since her marriage, and a member of the Mothers’ Union for the past 58 years, but in latter years was unable to attend due to ill health.

Some of her many interests included poetry, which she recited at many guest teas and concerts in the local area. She enjoyed baking and gardening and was keenly involved in showing her produce successfully at Fermanagh County Show for many years. She took an interest in politics and was an active member of the Ulster Unionist Party.

During all her married life she had her roots firmly planted in the countryside, being involved in the day to day running of the family farm for over 50 years.

Falling into ill health, she was initially looked after at home by a dedicated team of carers before moving into the nursing home where she passed away peacefully on August 4.

Her funeral service at Magheracross Parish Church was conducted by the Rev. Charles Eames (in the absence of Rev. Chris Matchett). Burial was at Craghan Cemetery, Ballinamallard.

The funeral arrangements were by funeral directors S. R. Elliott and Sons, Darling Street, Enniskillen.
