Mr. Robert Victor Coulter
Much sadness has been expressed following the death of Robert Victor (Bob) Coulter on November 30 in The Tilery Private Nursing Home.
Bob was born on January 31, 1929 in Glassmullagh, a son of the late Robert and Louisa Coulter.
He started school at Teemore, where his mother was the teacher, and then went to Newtownbutler School, followed by Cavan Royal where he was a boarder, and finished at Portora Royal. During his school years he was a keen footballer and rugby player.
On leaving school he went to F. Dowler's, Lisnaskea, and worked for about 10 years in the hardware department.
He was happy there and made many friends and enjoyed a good social life, going to dances and playing badminton at which he excelled. Although he never travelled much and had never been on a plane, he did travel around Ireland on a motorcycle with one of his friends.
He left Dowler's to take up farming at Glassmullagh for the next 30 years and married Jean Magee in April 1959; they had six children - David (Lorna), Helen (Jim), Ken (Lettie), Ian (Elaine), Janet (Peter) and Nigel (Karen), and had 15 grandchildren.
Bob was predeceased by sisters Myra and Carol and brother Frank and is survived by his wife Jean, sister Vera, brothers Eric and Mervyn, brother-in-law Wesley, sisters-in-law Harriett, Irene and Kathleen and wider family circle.
The funeral took place on Friday, December 2, at Derrylin Parish Church and was conducted by the Rev. Ivan Ruiters. The funeral arrangements were carried out by F. Dowler Ltd., Lisnaskea.
