The death occurred on January 24, 2012 of Poppy Maxwell, aged 83, late of Tempo Road, Enniskillen. The widow of Crawford Maxwell (a retired Ulster Bank manager), her peaceful passing, after a long illness, took place at her home, surrounded by her family.

A native of Sligo, where she grew up and went to school, Poppy worked at the Ulster Bank in Dublin, where she met her husband, Crawford.

Their positions in the bank meant that they moved around quite a bit and they came to Fermanagh almost 40 years ago. Crawford came to Enniskillen around 1972 as manager of the Ulster Bank in Darling Street, and then retired in 1982. For the most part, the Maxwells lived at Algeo Drive, Enniskillen. Their two children are Heather and Paul.

Following her marriage, Poppy concentrated on her home and family. Among her interests were golf, which she played at Enniskillen Golf Club, and bridge, which she continued playing until latter years. She enjoyed a good social life with her many friends.

Poppy's funeral service, led by the Rev. Charles Eames, took place at S.R. Elliott's funeral home at Drumclay Park North, Enniskillen, on Friday, January 27, 2012. It was followed by burial at Breandrum Cemetery.

Poppy is survived by her daughter and son, Heather (Barry) and Paul (Margaret) and by seven grandchildren: Michael, Tara, Stephen, John, Matthew, Mark and David, having been predeceased by her eldest grandchild, Paula. She leaves six great grandchildren, Aimee, Rachel, Jamie, Sarah, William and Michael, the wider family circle and her friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Crawford in 1996 and by her brother Meldrum in 2010. The funeral arrangements were by funeral directors, S.R. Elliott and Sons, Darling Street, Enniskillen.
