The death occurred in England on March 5, 2012, of Brendan Benedict Campling, originally from Co. Fermanagh.

A native of Enniskillen, Brendan was born in Queen Street on March 21, 1923. At the age of nine years, he moved to Castle Street.

He was educated in the Presentation Brothers' School, followed by Enniskillen Technical College, where he joined the RAF Cadets.

As a young man, he joined the RAF and quickly rose through the ranks to become a Flight Lieutenant serving as a rear gunner on the Lancaster bombers during W.W.2. He was stationed at Newmarket where he met and subsequently married Ellen - a marriage that was to last 50 years. (Ellen predeceased him a number of years ago).

After retiring from the RAF, Brendan along with his wife and four daughters took up residence as the landlord at the Windsor Castle public house and restaurant.

Among his leisure interests had been following rugby and he was a keen Ireland supporter.

Due to failing health, Brendan spent the last five years of his life at St. Augustine's Care Home where he was looked after so well by the nuns. Brendan was laid to rest on March 27, 2012, following a Requiem Mass at The Church of St. Edward the Confessor, Windsor. The celebrant was the Rev. Fr. Morrissey. Interment was at Oakley Green Cemetery.

Brendan is survived by his four daughters, Ann, Sarah, Sheila and Judith, his sons in law, and grandchildren.

He also leaves his two sisters Pauline (Dunbar) and Evelyn (Cleary), Enniskillen, and families.

A memorial mass for Brendan will be offered in the Convent of Mercy Chapel, Enniskillen, at 7pm on Friday, May 18, 2012.
