A much loved mother, grandmother and sister, Mrs. Annie Louisa Watson, formerly Elliott, passed away peacefully at the South West Acute Hospital, Enniskillen on July 18, 2012.

Annie was born on January 28, 1922, in Remalia, Clabby, to the former Sarah Coulter and James Elliott. She has been fondly remembered as a lively child by her brother John, who was six years her junior.

The family of four (Sarah and James and their two children) settled in Imeroo, Tempo, and Annie attended Imeroo School and she later joined the Tempo W.L.O.L. She farmed at home until she married John Robert Watson on September 26, 1956, in St. Margaret's Parish Church in Clabby, where she had been both baptised and confirmed.

They built a home together in Ballyreagh, Tempo, and had three daughters Gladys, Doreen and Sandra. The family joined Garvary Parish Church. However, after only 11 years into their happy marriage, John died suddenly in 1967 leaving Annie with a young family to raise, at that time unable to drive and with a farm to run. With the help of wonderful neighbours she and the family were able to get through this tough time.

In 1987, she moved to Tattinderry Heights in Maguiresbridge and remained there for the rest of her life.

She loved flowers and kept a small garden, collecting many different variations of plants. As a very independent woman, she drove up until two years ago, aged 88 years.

She enjoyed being out and about and she and her neighbour, Mrs. Connelly loved taking shopping trips together.

The Friday Club in Maguiresbridge Church of Ireland proved a source of enjoyment for Annie, who delighted in socialising and indulging in the home cooked traybakes on offer. She also loved to bake, producing selections of rhubarb and apple tarts, pancakes and Christmas cakes for any visitor who called; she always had a spectacular range of food to offer.

When she was unable to drive, the telephone became an essential requisite for Annie, who regularly kept in touch with family and friends.

A keen reader, Annie kept up to date with all the current news in Fermanagh, Tyrone and much further afield, absorbing everything she read. She had an unbelievable memory for events, dates and times - and her mind remained sharp until the very end.

Annie enjoyed her recent three week stay in the Colorado Nursing Home and spoke very warmly of the friendly caring staff there and their home cooking. She and the family circle were also very grateful to all the home carers who attended to her so concientiously.

Her funeral service, a Service of Thanksgiving for her life, was held at Tempo Parish Church. It was conducted by the Rev. Canon Glenn West, in the absence of Maguiresbridge rector, the Rev. Canon David Skuce and Tempo rector, the Rev. Maurice Armstrong.

The hymns were; There is a Green Hill Far Away; Safe in the Arms of Jesus; and When I survey the Wondrous Cross.

Annie is survived by her daughters: Gladys and husband Robert Gervis, Ballygawley; Doreen and husband Henry Mayne, Lisnaskea; and Sandra and husband Ivan Warrington, Fivemiletown. She leaves 12 grandchildren and her only brother John Elliott and wife Maisie, Imeroo and their son Leslie, his wife Joan and son David; the wider family circle and her friends.

The funeral arrangements were by S.R. Elliott and Sons, Darling Street, Enniskillen and Fivemiletown.
